During the summer of 2024, UConn Men’s Crew made a historic leap forward by hiring our first full-time Head Coach, Logan McClennen, whose leadership has already elevated the team’s competitiveness and set a strong foundation for growth.
Now, in 2025, our program is taking the next step in that upward trajectory by expanding our coaching staff and investing in the resources needed to match our growing roster and ambitions.
This year, we are thrilled to Welcome Assistant Coach Justin Ziobrowsky to the team. Coach Ziobrowsky brings a fresh and experienced perspective to UConn Crew, working alongside Coach McClennen to refine our training and strategy. His arrival has already energized our athletes and added another layer of expertise to our program, ensuring that every rower—from novice to varsity—receives the guidance they need to excel.
As our team grows, so does our fleet requirement. One of our top priorities this year is acquiring a USED MIDWEIGHT RACING 4+. With our roster expanding, access to a reliable and competitive 4+ is critical for both training and racing. Last season, we officially retired one of our older shells after years of dedicated use; it was no longer race-worthy and could not meet the demands of collegiate competition. Replacing it with a new (to us) racing 4+ will ensure that our athletes continue to have access to equipment that allows them to train at full capacity and race at their best. This addition will not only keep our program competitive but also provide more opportunities for lineups to take the water, making sure every athlete benefits from the resources they need.
At the same time, we are facing new financial challenges. UConn will no longer be covering the costs of our insurance and boathouse rent. These essential expenses are now the responsibility of the team, making fundraising more important than ever. Without support, these added costs threaten to limit the resources we can dedicate to coaching, equipment, and competition.
Your generosity makes it possible for us to meet these challenges head-on. By supporting this year’s campaign, you are helping to sustain our growing coaching staff, strengthen our fleet with a much-needed racing shell, and ensure we can continue to operate without disruption despite rising costs.
This spring, our goal is to raise $20,000 to cover these new expenses and secure the resources we need to keep building momentum. Every contribution is an investment in the future of UConn Men’s Crew—supporting our athletes, fueling our competitiveness, and ensuring the lasting success of our program.
Any additional funds will be used for the general activities of the group.
