Our Mission
At Hindu Yuva, we strive to protect, preserve, practice, and promote Hindu Dharma. Our goal is to develop leadership and character in our members by instilling values such as self-discipline, self-confidence, and a commitment to selfless service to society.
Hindu Yuva at UConn is part of a national collegiate organization, offering a "home away from home" for Hindu students. We work to educate our community about our culture and religion through various events. A key annual event, Guru Vandana: A Teacher Appreciation Event, honors our professors and emphasizes the Hindu value of reverence for teachers. We've also hosted distinguished speakers like Swami Sachidananda, a monk and Harvard fellow, who shared insights into the uniqueness of Hinduism.
Additionally, we celebrate all major Hindu festivals on campus, free of charge, for all attendees. Our Navaratri events are a highlight, bringing the community together for nine nights of celebration dedicated to the divine feminine. We hold special pujas, including Durgā Pūjā, Laxmī Pūjā, and Sarasvatī Pūjā, and celebrate with traditional bhajans and prayers. These events are a wonderful opportunity for students to participate in our traditions and learn about their cultural significance.
With your support, we can continue to host meaningful events and further strengthen the Hindu community at UConn! Any additional funds will be used for the general activities of the group.
