Who Are We
UConn SASE is the UConn chapter of the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers, a national organization dedicated to development of Asian heritage students, scientists, and engineers to prepare them for the corporate world. Despite Asian heritage professionals making up a large percentage of the STEM workforce, and a large percentage of entry level jobs, there is a lack of Asian representation in management level positions across STEM industries. SASE's goal is to help its members break through this bamboo ceiling and leave their impact as scientists and engineers. At UConn SASE our mission is to develop our members as professionals, celebrate Asian culture on campus, and give back to our community.
What Your Contribution Means
Through various events and initiatives UConn SASE is able to follow through on our mission statement. From attending the National SASE conferences and hosting workshops to develop our members professionals to celebrating various Asian holidays, we do our best to provide our members with opportunities to become better leaders and thinkers. Your contribution means that members will be able to attend conferences, expand their networks, learn about Asian culture and connect with their heritage, and impact their communities through outreach. We thank you for any contribution you may be able to provide, and please know that your efforts do make an impact.
Where Funds Go
The majority of our funds go to helping members attend conferences. At conferences members can obtain job opportunities, grow their networks, and learn from their peers. Attending conferences includes travel costs, lodging costs, and purchasing registration tickets. As an organization we generally try to fund our members' attendance as much as possible, and depending on the location we can support our members. Throughout the year our funds also go to purchasing supplies for holiday celebrations and events. Any additional funds will be used for the general activities of the group.
