Family Law Association

The Family Law Association is a community for UConn Law students drawn to one of the most personal and consequential areas of legal practice. We connect students with family law practitioners, introduce the wider student body to the field, and support members as they pursue their professional goals.

Our biggest event is the Domestic Violence Awareness Panel, held each October during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Practitioners share their professional and personal experiences in this area of law, explain how it connects to family law more broadly, and walk students through the laws that protect survivors. It's a rare chance for students to hear directly from attorneys doing this difficult and vital work, and it's one of the ways we bring family law's real-world impact to the wider UConn Law community.

Throughout the year, we also connect students with practitioners through networking events and host programming that introduces the full breadth of the field, from custody and divorce to adoption and estate planning. Most of all, we're a support system: members help one another find mentors, pursue internships, and grow into the attorneys they hope to become.

Family law is often overlooked by law students choosing their career paths. Through Ignite, we hope to change that. Your gift will go directly toward providing quality food at our events, which helps draw students from across UConn Law, not just those already interested in family law.
