About

The University of Connecticut Men's Crew (UCMC) was established in 1984 and earned its first national ranking in May 2004. We compete at the Varsity level against prominent collegiate crews across the East Coast, launching our racing shells from Patriot's Park at Coventry Lake, just ten minutes from the Storrs campus. Our team is a community of Varsity, Novice, and Alumni rowers and coxswains: close friends, hardworking students, and successful professionals who share a strong team culture and a network that lasts well beyond graduation.

On the water, our practices focus on technique, power application, and teamwork. On land, we build our physical edge through cross-training, weight circuits, and ergometer training. Since Winter 2017, our on-campus Erg Room and Winter Training Center in the Ratcliff-Hicks Arena has given us over 25 ergs and a full range of cross-training equipment, so we stay competitive through the off-season with regular team practices. Our Novice and Varsity squads are fully integrated for both Winter Training and the Spring Season, which means new members train and learn alongside experienced rowers from day one. We welcome all current UConn students, no prior rowing experience required.

This year we are fundraising to cover race entries, travel, coaching expenses, and equipment such as boats and oars. This fall we will be sending a four-person boat to the Head of the Charles, the largest rowing regatta in the world. We will also be racing at the Head of the Housatonic, Wormtown Chase, and Head of the Riverfront. In the spring, we will compete at the Knecht Cup in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, the New England Rowing Championships (NERC), and the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) Championships in Tennessee, our national championship race. Your support helps us get our boats, oars, and athletes to the starting line.

We are proud of how far the program has come since earning our first national ranking in 2004. Building our on-campus Winter Training Center and fully integrating our Novice and Varsity squads have been milestones that drive our growth.

Rowing is one of the most equipment- and travel-intensive sports on campus, and we rely on our community to keep the program strong. Your donation directly funds race entries, regatta travel, coaching, equipment that allow us to compete at the varsity level. Gifts of any size help lower costs for our athletes and keep the sport accessible to more students. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to help us continue to grow and succeed as a team.

Thank you for supporting UConn Men's Crew!

Any additional funds will be used for the general activities of the group.
