Gifts to Accessibility Coalition contribute to...
The Accessibility Coalition exists to destigmatize disability and provide resources about accommodations during law school and beyond. We began last year as a tiny group with a spark of an idea, and have continued to grow this year. Our last event had 15-20 people (and it was during lunch!).
UConn Law has consistently been a leader in standing up for the rights of law students and those in the legal profession with disabilities, starting with Professor Job Bauer’s work on the bar exam character and fitness questions to today's robust group of clinics working in disability rights and other spaces. Our organization aims to continue those same missions & show the work left to be done. The Accessibility Coalition is an open and inclusive organization dedicated to providing community, support, and awareness to students with disabilities & their allies.
We host events to demystify accommodations, whether temporary or permanent, for the workplace or the bar examination. We bring in speakers to discuss the intersectionality of disability and accessibility with environmental justice. We hold roundtables with speakers from across the country who speak to issues of accountability and disability in human rights and conflict zones. Any additional funds will be used for the general activities of the group. We love to hear others' ideas as well, so feel free to drop us a line at law.ac@uconn.edu.
