Gifts to BLSA: 55 Years of Excellence contribute to...
UConn BLSA is a local chapter of the National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA), founded in 1968. The national mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black and minority attorneys that excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community. UConn BLSA furthers this initiative by providing our students with educational, networking, and career opportunities. We also serve as a social support system that seeks to continue the dialogue on issues of race and the law and to prevent and fight racism in all sectors of society. Our group will allocate donated funds to attend and actively engage in the regional and national Black Law Students' Association conventions. These events provide invaluable opportunities to network with practicing attorneys from across the United States, connect with other Black law students from various schools, attend important workshops and panel discussions, and compete in moot court, mock trial, and negotiations competitions. Additionally, we aim to foster camaraderie within UConn's BLSA chapter that will last well into our professional careers. We will also use these funds to enhance our overall experience and support any celebratory events or needs within the organization (Any additional funds will be used to support the general activities of the group).
