About

About the Institute

The Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy (IMRP) at UConn is a dynamic, non-partisan organization dedicated to improving local, state, and national public policy by addressing complex issues and ensuring the best outcomes for individuals and communities. By bridging the gap between academia, policymakers, practitioners, and the community, IMRP champions fair, effective, and just public policy through applied research and community engagement.

Harnessing the expertise of students, staff, and faculty, IMRP shapes and enhances public policy on municipal and regional concerns through strategies such as public education and dialogue, published reports and policy papers, pilot program design and implementation, and collaborations among universities, governments, private organizations, and communities.

The CT Children with Incarcerated Parents Initiative (CTCIP)

The CT Children with Incarcerated Parents Initiative (CTCIP) at UConn's Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy (IMRP) is dedicated to improving the quality of support for children with incarceration parents through data analysis, rigorous research, strategic partnerships with community organizations and government agencies, and the creation of valuable resources.

The CTCIP Scholarship

The CTCIP Scholarship provides financial assistance to UConn students impacted by parental incarceration to help alleviate the burden of educational expenses, empowering recipients to focus on their academic goals and personal growth. By offering this support, we aim to reduce barriers to higher education and provide encouragement to students navigating familial incarceration.

The Impact of Your Gift

Thanks to generous supporters, CTCIP has awarded over 25 scholarships totaling more than $75,000. Beyond easing financial strain, recipients say the scholarship validates their experiences and brings attention to the often-overlooked effects of parental incarceration, creating opportunity and affirmation for students in need.
