Molecular and Cell Biology
Founded in 1986, the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology has a broad and interdisciplinary research program and offers courses at the cutting edge of a wide range of molecular biosciences.
At MCB we aim to understand fundamental biological processes at the molecular and cellular level across all domains of life. We accomplish this through research, classroom teaching, and laboratory training directed at promoting the intellectual curiosity and critical thinking of individuals at all career levels.
Research in MCB is highly interdisciplinary, spanning four major disciplines: Cell & Developmental Biology, Genetics & Genomics, Microbiology, and Structural Biology, Biochemistry & Biophysics. MCB graduate students can earn a Ph.D. or MS degree in “Molecular and Cell Biology”.
Dr. Edward A. Khairallah and Dr. Lamia H. Khairallah Fellowship
This fund is dedicated to the financial support of graduate students who are pursuing a degree with a concentration in Biochemistry, Cell Biology or Toxicology, and the continuing education of faculty and student colleagues via the ongoing “Khairallah Seminar Series.” This fund supports PhD students in Pharmacy or Molecular & Cell Biology who produce promising research beyond the second year of study in the fields of Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or Toxicology. The Fund honors the enduring contributions that Drs. Edward A. and Lamia H. Khairallah made during their productive and influential careers.
