About

Help the UConn Speech and Hearing Clinic build a sensory-friendly therapy environment for children with autism and other neurodevelopmental differences.

Who We Are

The UConn Speech and Hearing Clinic provides essential, community-based speech, language, and hearing services to patients across Connecticut.

Our graduate student clinicians, guided by licensed, experienced professionals, deliver high-quality, compassionate care while gaining the hands-on training needed to become the next generation of speech-language pathologists and audiologists.

Many of the children we serve are on the autism spectrum or have other neurodevelopmental conditions, and they rely on our clinic for specialized, supportive care.

What We’re Building

We are raising funds to create a sensory-friendly therapy space designed specifically for children with autism and other neurodevelopmental differences.

This thoughtfully designed environment will:

  • Support sensory regulation
  • Reduce anxiety and overstimulation
  • Encourage focus, comfort, and engagement

By adapting the therapy space to meet children’s sensory needs, we can help them participate more fully and successfully in their speech and language therapy sessions.

Why It Matters

For many children, traditional clinical environments can feel overwhelming, making it difficult to engage in therapy. A sensory-friendly space can make all the difference, transforming frustration into progress, and discomfort into confidence.

Your Impact

Your gift will directly:

  • Help children with complex communication needs access therapy in a space designed for their success
  • Improve therapy outcomes by fostering comfort, focus, and engagement
  • Support the hands-on training of UConn graduate clinicians
  • Prepare future speech-language pathologists to provide effective, compassionate care to neurodivergent patients

Make a Difference Today

With your support, we can create a space where every child feels understood, supported, and empowered to communicate.

Give today and help every voice be heard.
